Valentines day is all about showing love to yourself or to your significant other. Or crying and eating ice cream because you don't have a Valentine. All of these are perfectly fine. But how do you celebrate in a witchy way. Well let me share some ideas. First off most people think of love spells. Those are a bit controversial. In my opinion if you have permission from the person that you are casting the spell on then I see no issue with it. But if you are casting a love spell to change someones initial feelings towards you that can be dangerous. It creates negative outcomes like obsession and abuse. This is due to the unconscious intention in your mind when performing a love spell. Maybe you want to seek male validation, this could draw in a relationship that fills that but is shallow in other areas. Its just not a good idea to do it without consent or an extreme understanding on what you want and are looking for. You might also think of doing a revenge love spell of some kind to get back at an ex. This can be reasonable if for one you believe in seeking your own revenge, and two you have a valid reason. Hexing and sending bad jew jew is not to be done so lightly. Now I fully believe that defending yourself and your happiness is very important. But be level headed and reasonable about it. Is it worth the risk of it back firing. Are you going to feel the same way in a month or so. Try to really think about it and BE CAREFUL. Now onto how to celebrate. On February 2nd there is a witchy holiday known as Imbolc. For witches this kicks off the month with some self love and new beginnings. Imbolc is the celebration of spring and when the Crone becomes the Maiden. So planting new seeds is a good thing to do on this day. Also some cleansing is in order, cleans everything its good to get that spiritual spring cleaning done. Growth and positive change are huge so refresh some things. Take a self love spell bath. Dim the lights, light an incense and meditate in the bath. Don't fall asleep in there although its tempting. Now for February 14th, this is a good time to spread some love. Not only to yourself and the ones you love but to your community and those in need. As a witch its a gift to be able to spread positive change. From either the comfort of our altar tables or out in the world. Go help a neighbor with weeding there flowers or feed the homeless. Heck even picking up trash is a good one. Basically spread positivity, start something new, and meditate. Don't forget its a holiday which means yummy dishes. Now Imbolc and Valentines day are not big dinner celebrations but you can still make something. A good witchy book for the sabbats is, "A Kitchen Witchcraft Book for the Holidays." One of my favorites, (not specifically from this book), is lavender cookies, sprinkled with some rose petals. They look so pretty and are very yummy. You can also make yummy breads and teas to bring on some self love. I hope this helped and have a Happy Valentines Day.
Blessed Be

PPS. I am trying to figure out how to respond to comments because it is not allowing me to at the moment.
Very well written and thought provoking. Me personally, I don’t think it is a bad idea to do a spell to nurture love that already exists between two people. That’s my idea.
